Where We Stand

The Cowichan Valley is part of the vast, traditional, ancestral, and unceded territories of the Coast Salish peoples. Since time immemorial, the Quw’utsun Tribes, Malahat First Nation, Stz’uminus First Nation, Penelakut Tribe, Ditidaht First Nation, Halalt First Nation, Lyackson First Nation, and Pacheedaht First Nation have lived and walked gently on this land.

The Cowichan Family Caregivers Support Society offers free community services to caregivers from a diverse range of life experiences, including those who are residential school survivors and intergenerational residential school survivors. As an organisation, we encourage all Canadians to take responsibility for learning about the full history of Canada, which includes extensive human rights atrocities committed against Indigenous people by the government and religious authorities.
