Ranjana was born in India, moving to Canada when she was four. She has a Bachelor of Science from Carlton University and a Masters of Social Work from University of Toronto. While working for the Association of Social Workers in Ontario, she wrote a book on elder abuse that serves as a guide for those working in the field. She moved with her family to Vancouver Island in 1995.
Ranjana is driven by a caring energy. She has strong values in her work and life, and integrates her belief system into everything she does. She is passionate about the planet, animals, her family, vegan lifestyle, music (she has a magnificent voice) and caregiving (not necessarily in that order). She has personal experience as a caregiver for her father and mother.
Ranjana has been instrumental in strengthening the Family Caregivers Support Society in the Cowichan Valley and was the catalyst and driving force behind the Caregivers Support Circle Program. She is now heading up the Book Project as writer of the guidebook on caregiving that will have national distribution and will enable others to develop and sustain effective caregiver organizations.
We all are inspired by and are grateful for Ranjana's remarkable leadership, her problem-solving skills and her ability to see and encourage people's strengths and gifts. |
